Popstar Adele helped a fan propose to his longtime girlfriend during her One Night Only concert TV special at the Griffith Observatory in LA.
Adele was on her promotional tour for her upcoming album “30”, where she performed some of her greatest hits as well as the songs from her upcoming album.
The concert saw guests such as Seth Rogen, Melissa McCarthy, and Lizzo making appearances as the two-hour special concert aired on CBS on Sunday.
Adele helps fan propose on stage
Adele was on hand to help a fan, Quentin, with his surprise proposal to his girlfriend of 7-years, Ashley, on stage; as she told her fans to play along and be quiet for the surprise.
The proposal was orchestrated beforehand and Adele told her fans: “I need every person to be really quiet alright? If you make a noise, I’m going to kill you.”
The lights were then dimmed so that Ashley, who was blindfolded, couldn’t see where she was.
Quentin then led his girlfriend onto the stage slowly and as she took off her blindfold, she saw her boyfriend down on one knee as she became speechless and started to cry.
“Is this real? Who are these people?” She asked.
He then gave her a speech, as both boyfriend and girlfriend failed to hold back their tears, and Ashley then accepted his proposal and said yes; culminating in rapturous applause from the audience as Quentin put the ring on her finger.
Adele then emerged from the darkness with the spotlight beaming down on her, stunning the new bride-to-be as she performed her hit love song, Make You Feel My Love.
She even pointed out, mid-way through the song, that Ashley was crying her eyes out.
The “divorce album”
Adele’s new album “30” is due to come out on November 19, with many dubbing it the “divorce album”.
The album was written while she was going through her divorce from her husband Simon Konecki, with the name “30” representing the age that she was when they tied the knot.
She said that the album is her attempt to explain the divorce to her 9-year-old son when he eventually grows up.
