Andrew Garfield wants to return as Spidey
Speaking during an interview with Variety, Andrew Garfield opened up about what brought him back to the role of Spider-Man and said that he’d be open to returning as the web-slinger if it felt right. Garfield also reflected for the first time since Spider-Man: No Way Home was released, on what it meant to him to redeem the character of Spider-Man in terms of the narrative and commercially.
Garfield also spoke about how grateful he was to have been able to tie up loose ends for his character of Peter Parker, most notably killing his inner demons at being unable to save Gwen Stacy by saving a falling MJ in Spider-Man: No Way Home, with his character not pulling his punches in the universe of The Amazing Spider-Man after the death of Gwen Stacy.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, Sony producer Amy Pascal and No Way Home’s director Jon Watts pitched the idea of closure for Peter Parker to Garfield during their initial conversation – “If his character were dumped into the MCU and faced a younger and older version of himself, how would he respond?”
