Andrew Garfield’s favorite Spider-Man is Tobey Maguire, according to the man himself in an undercover video he did with GQ responding to fans online.
The actor played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man as well as its sequels – he was the second actor to portray the web-slinger, after Tobey Maguire and before Tom Holland.
Andrew Garfield’s favorite Spider-Man
In a video with GQ entitled “Andrew Garfield Responds to Fans on the Internet”, where the actor went undercover online, a fan tweeted that Tobey Maguire was the best Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield was the best Spider-Man, and Tom Holland is the only one who is decent at both.
Garfield then revealed that Tobey Maguire is his favorite Spider-Man because that is his childhood – he said that he used to get high with his friend and watch the 2002 Spider-man movie back to back, thrice.
He said that his friend told him that he would never play Spider-Man, and here we are.
Andrew Garfield’s appearance on Spider-Man: No Way Home
While it has yet to be confirmed if Andrew Garfield will be appearing in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home movie, fans have been channeling their inner Sherlock Holmes and analyzing the movie trailers, especially the latest one that was released on Tuesday.
The actors heavily rumoured to be in the new movie (namely Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) have vehemently denied their involvement in the film.
However, given the revelation that Garfield’s favorite Spidey is Maguire, I think it’s safe to say that he would’ve jumped at the opportunity to work with the latter.
Spider-Man: No Way Home
The upcoming Spider-Man movie sees Peter Parker seeking help from Dr Strange to erase the world’s memory of him being the Spider-Man, but the spell that the Sorcerer Supreme cooked up apparently went wrong.
Peter now has to face a myriad of villains from other multi-verses, including Doc Ock, Sandman, Lizard, Electro, and the Green Goblin.
