Angelina Jolie called out the countries which banned the Eternals movie that was released 2 days ago. The film has been banned in several countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar due to its reference to gay content. In these countries, it is illegal to be homosexual and this is not the first time countries in that region had banned content with even a slight homosexual reference.”
“I still don’t understand how we live in a world today where there’s still people who would not see the family Phastos has and the beauty of that relationship and that love,” she said. “How anybody is angry about it, threatened by it, doesn’t approve or appreciate it is ignorant,” said Jolie.
Previously, Pixar’s “Onward” was banned in these countries due to a one-line of reference to homosexual relationships.
One of the Eternals, Phastos played by Brian Tyree Henry shared a kiss with his on-screen spouse Ben (Haaz Sleiman) which resulted in the ban, the countries that issued the banned had told Disney and Marvel to cut out the scene from the movie but both companies refused the request.
The Eternals movie is 2h and 37m long and rated PG-13. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film got over 1000 reviews and it scored an average of 83%.
An audience that rated the movie 4.5 stars said “Don’t believe the critics. Solid addition to the MCU. Interested to see where they take it”
An audience that rated it 1 star said: “Movie was a letdown. Marvel missed with this one. Walked out half way thru after at least another six couples gave up on it too. Disappointed.”
