Bradley Cooper recalls being held at knifepoint during a harrowing encounter in New York City back in 2019, where he was on the subway at about 11.45 in the morning on the way downtown to pick up his 4-year-old daughter Lea from her lessons at a Russian school.

Bradley Cooper recalls harrowing encounter

Speaking to Dax Shepard during a recent interview on the Armchair Expert Podcast to promote his new movie Nightmare Alley, Bradley Cooper shared how before the pandemic happened, he used to walk around New York all the time with his headphones on, and that he had let his guard down and gotten “way, way too comfortable in the city”

He shared a harrowing encounter where he was at the end of the subway and felt somebody coming up, and he had thought that they wanted to take a photo with him or something; and as he turned to look down, he saw a knife being held against him.

Throughout the whole ordeal, his headphones were on the whole time and he couldn’t hear anything but the music that was playing in his ears – the entire harrowing encounter played out to a music score through his headphones.

Cooper shared how taken aback he was by how young the assailant was. He knocked the guy’s arm away with his own elbow then jumped over the turnstile, hid around the entrance of the foyer to the subway, and took out his phone to take a photo of the guy before chasing him up the stairs.

By the good grace of God no one was injured during the encounter and he managed to pick up his daughter in one piece, he stopped short of revealing what happened to the assailant though – he did however show the photographs of the guy who held him at knifepoint to a couple of police officers on the street.

Upcoming movies

Among his upcoming projects is Licorice Pizza and Nightmare Alley; Bradley Cooper also has Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 to be released in 2023.

According to Searchlight Pictures, it sees Bradley Cooper’s Stanton Carlisle, a carny with ambitious dreams who is talented at manipulating people, hook up with Cate Blanchett’s Dr. Lilith Ritter. The movie will be released in the United States on December 17.
