Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr had a very funny first meeting on the set of 2012’s The Avengers, according to fellow Avenger alumnus Jeremy Renner, who played Hawkeye in the first movie.
Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr’s first meeting
Speaking during an interview on the Armchair Expert podcast, Jeremy Renner revealed that Robert Downey Jr didn’t know what to make of Chris Hemsworth when the two actors first met on the set of 2012’s The Avengers. The Iron-Man actor jokingly suggested breaking the Thor actor’s legs because he was too tall and handsome.
Robert Downey Jr was joking of course, and in fact, this wasn’t actually the first time the Avengers cast met – the founding members of the Avengers movie actually met at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, along with Samuel L Jackson and Clark Gregg; where Marvel Studios gathers all the six actors for an official announcement of the project.
And thankfully the cast got along just fine and immediately liked each other, which massively helped the chemistry of the group, which became the backbone of The Avengers as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
