Daniel Radcliffe, who played the titular character in the Harry Potter movies, revealed during the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special that he had a crush on his co-star Helena Bonham Carter, who played Bellatrix Lestrange in the movies.

The pair reunited in the 20th anniversary special and Radcliffe read out what he wrote to Bonham Carter during filming:

Dear HBC. It was a pleasure being your co-star and coaster in the sense that I always ended up holding your coffee.

I do love you, and I just wish I had been born 10 years earlier I might [have had] a chance. Lots of love and thanks for being cool.

Radcliffe also shared how some of his first girlfriends and kisses were through the Harry Potter movies, saying that every part of his life is connected to Harry Potter and “it all spirals out from the part of set somewhere”.

Blooming romances

It appears that at the time of filming for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, many cast members started dating, although Daniel Radcliffe stopped short of naming any names. Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom in the movies, added that “there was crushes and people went out with each other and broke up just like you do in school. It was exactly the same environment but it was just in a Defence Against the Dark Arts class.”

More famously, Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the movies, also revealed that she developed a crush on Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy; and although her romantic feelings were never reciprocated, Tom Felton saw her as a younger sister and became very protective of her after learning about her crush on him.

I guess love was blooming everywhere at Hogwarts, wasn’t it? Especially so for Harry Potter, the boy who blushed.
