Jacob Batalon reflects on losing over 100 pounds

Speaking to Men’s Health during an interview, Jacob Batalon shared that his weight had started to affect his health and he had problems even going up flights of stairs, becoming out of breath – he then realized that he had to do something about it and couldn’t believe that he had let himself go so much.

With the help of a physical trainer, Batalon went to the gym 6 days a week for about 90 minutes each session and also started on a plant-based diet with the encouragement of his girlfriend, losing an incredible 100 pounds through the combination of diet and workout, regaining his health along the way.

I decided to get into this sort of transformation, or this sort of journey, with my health and fitness at the end of 2019.

Even when I wasn’t doing anything physical, I found myself getting sleepy at work and it was because of all the fat food I was eating.

This one day I kind of just saw myself without a shirt on and it was just ridiculous. I could not believe I let myself get this far. That’s what sort of started it all.

Recently, my girlfriend has actually gotten me into a plant-based diet, as well, and that’s really helped my body and I can feel the difference between eating a lot of meat and eating plant-based stuff and that’s really helped me, as well.

I found a lot of light in the dark in the sense that a lot of people were suffering and I was fortunate and lucky enough to have found my health and all those things.

Struggles behind the scenes

Very little people knew about the struggle that Batalon went through behind his affable character of Ned Leeds in the Spider-Man movies, where he played the happy and cheerful sidekick to Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker. Behind the scenes, his weight had started to affect him negatively and impacted his health.

Thankfully, Batalon recognized that his health was in trouble and chose to do something about it and get back onto the right track before his health deteriorated any further.
