JK Simmons spoke with ET about his return to the role of J Jonah Jameson and revealed that Marvel Studios had a different plan in mind for how Jameson was going to look like in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home movie.

He was apparently surprised when he was told that Jameson wouldn’t be sporting a flat-top, but he was adamant that the character continues to sport his moustache and “blow-hard” attitude (and cigar, of course).

Simmons was still negotiating with the studio at the time and said that the most important thing was “the damn moustache”, he added that the J Jonah Jameson that viewers will be seeing is a slightly different character, the same “blow-hard” but with lesser hair.

Return of J Jonah Jameson

Simmons will be reprising his role as J Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: No Way Home; in the movie, he apparently receives edited footage that frames Peter Parker’s Spider-Man (portrayed by Tom Holland) for the death of Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio and the drone attack in London, following the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Spider-Man’s identity is also revealed in the footage and it was then broadcast across the globe by the major news networks, much to the horror of Peter Parker, who then goes to seek help from Doctor Strange (portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch) to make everyone forget that he is Spider-Man.

The spell then goes horribly wrong and villains from across the multiverse (including villains from the previous Spider-Man movie iterations like Doc Ock, Green Goblin, and Sandman).

Alfred Molina, Willem Dafoe, and Thomas Hayden Church will be reprising their role from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies as Doc Ock, Green Goblin and Sandman respectively; while Jamie Foxx and Rhys Ifans will be reprising their roles from Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man movies as Electro and The Lizard respectively.
