Kevin Hart released a new show True Story on Netflix, as the comedian takes a different route away from comedy to deliver a semi-autobiographical drama series starring himself, Wesley Snipes, and Paul Adelstein.
The Netflix show also sees a guest appearance from Avengers actor Chris Hemsworth, making a cameo in the series, playing a fictionalized version of himself who made a movie with Kevin Hart’s character, The Kid.
Kevin Hart released a new show
True Story sees Kevin Hart playing a world-famous comedian known as The Kid who spends a night out with his brother (played by Wesley Snipes) and the duo ends up scrambling to cover up a murder.
The show is semi-autobiographical, with some similarities between the show’s story and Kevin Hart’s real-life – Kevin Hart told Insider that the airplane scene in the first episode was based on his own experience with racism, as he was seen in the scene settling into his seat before the plane takes off and a white passenger recognizes him and quotes a few lines from his jokes using the “N” word.
He said that people can get so comfortable and ignore boundaries, and you have to be patient and chill to handle the situation, taking the high road because things can switch up on you.
Chris Hemsworth cameo
Chris Hemsworth makes a cameo as a fictional version of himself. We see Kevin Hart in the second episode breaking free of his handcuffs as his eyes start glowing red, and Chris Hemsworth comes smashing through the wall as part of the fictional superhero movie that his character (The Kid) made that catapulted his character to superstardom.
The creator of the TV series, Eric Newman, said that he could bring Chris Hemsworth on board because he was already working with the Australian actor on the upcoming movie Escape from Spiderhead when they were shooting the movie and Newman asked him if he would do it, to which he said “absolutely”.
True Story is available now in its entirety on Netflix, don’t miss it!
