Man United vs Man City, surely the game promises to be a spectacle for the football purists; alas, the game proved to be nothing more than a routine 3-point collection for the latter.

Man United fell to yet another defeat in front of their own fans at home, losing 2-0 to Man City via an Eric Bailly own goal and a soft Bernardo Silva goal.

Man United vs Man City, Pep vs Ole

Under fire Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is under immense pressure at the moment, after losing 4-2 to Leicester, 5-0 to Liverpool and now 2-0 against City.

The victory was far more comfortable for Pep Guardiola’s side than the scoreline suggests, with the Citizens cruising throughout the game and the Red Devils barely mading Ederson work.

Solsjaer set out with a clear and concise defensive plan to make it hard for Guardiola’s side, but it all went out the window the moment the players stepped onto the pitch.

Man City couldn’t have asked for easier opponents.

Terrible start

The game started off terribly for the Red Devils, with Eric Bailly hitting a dangerous Joao Cancelo cross into his own goal.

City then dominated possession as expected, with Bruno Fernandes repeatedly giving the ball away, United simply had no answer with Fernandes ready to explode throwing his arms around and leaving his position on numerous occasions.

Right before the half-time mar, Bernardo Silva doubled Man City’s lead with a toe poke that wiggled past David De Gea at his near post and into the net.

72 minutes have passed and United have only managed 1 shot on target, with Ederson in danger of falling asleep from boredom.

Man United spent over €140 million

Man United have spent over €140 million to bring in reinforcements in the form of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

However it seems their investments have yielded little to no rewards, with the side languishing in 5th place and possibly dropping to 9th if the other sides win their games in hand.

“Not at our level or standards”

Speaking to the media, United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer said that his team were nowhere near their level or standards.

He said that at one-nil down, they still thought they had a chance but the second goal killed them.

Tyson Fury sends a message to the Man United team.
