Scarlett Johansson talks about her thought process when on the lawsuit between her and Disney Plus. The lawsuit is about the movie Black Widow getting released on the same day in theatres and on Disney Plus, which affected her payout. Actors and actresses are normally paid bonuses if the movie is well received in the theatres. In another word, Box office.

Disney Plus wanted to attract more audiences to the streaming platform as movie theatres took a big hit when the pandemic started. In a way, it affected the Black Widow‘s box office as many might consider watching the movie at home instead of risking infection.

This resulted in a lawsuit, in her contract for Black Widow, it is stated that the film will be released only on theatres worldwide. Which Disney Plus allegedly violated when the movie was put up on the streaming platform.

The public was not on Disney Plus side and a strong response from Disney would do no good for the company and it will eventually affect future Marvel productions

The lawsuit ended with Scarlett Johansson and Disney Plus having a private settlement.

In the world of Hollywood, a celebrity who brings the production to court is considered a “career suicide” but Scarlett Johansson stands tall and pushes through.

Fans and other celebrities supported her decision, Elizabeth Olsen previously spoke in an interview with Vanity Fair that she supported Johansson.

In an interview conducted by Associated Press, she said that

“I think its important in general to know your own worth and stand up for yourself. I have been in this industry for 30 years and so much has shifted in 30 years."
"oh God should I stand up for myself I might never work again or I might be like blacklisted “

She considers her action an act of courage.

Things have blown over and she is currently still working with Marvel Studios.

Although that are many unspoken incidents in the entertainment industry, Johansson really did prove a point and fight for what she’s worth.
