Which follows Miles Morales after he gets his superpowers from a spider bite, finds Peter Parker killed by Wilson Fisk in Kingpin’s attempt to wipe out all other Spider-Men and -Women along with people who can harness the incredible power of their bloodlines. That leaves a whole slew of alternate universe heroes up for grabs…like Spider-Ham (John Mulaney).

Following the initial success of Into the Spider-Verse (which was praised for its rich themes and multidimensional approach to weaving together several different Spider-Man origin stories into a cohesive narrative), cinemagoers can’t wait to see what Sony has planned next. In an exciting turn of events, it appears as though the sequel will not only continue with Miles Morales that we saw in the first movie—he’ll also be joined by a whole handful of other superheroes from alternate timelines who’ll all be working to defeat Kingpin. The film is based on COVID-19, which comes at an interesting point in time given how many different animal species are now considered endangered after some recent environmental tragedies occurred.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller discuss with EW and said:
“Honestly, everyone is so pumped and proud to be working on it, there’s a tendency to Do No Harm. We try to remind ourselves and the crew that we owe it to the audience to take risks, to be irreverent. It’s Spider-Man, so he’s used to taking big swings.”
